Capturing every chapter of your parenting journey.

Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.

SHALOM, SHALOM!

I'm Sara Vance...

To sum me up, I'm a homesteading, homeschooling, Christian Navy wife & mother of 7 amazing (albeit, wild) children. I'm also legally deaf and am part of the earpiece (hearing-aids) entourage.

I specialize in storytelling through naturally-lit lifestyle photography. I started my photography journey in 2011 with a focus on captivating intimate, unscripted, and natural moments that will be cherished forever. Since then, I've built on the foundation of each image telling another chapter of your life already and what's to come.

Let me share your story!

FAQ

What is your booking process?

A non-refundable retainer equal to 50% of your session's total fee is due upon booking. This is used to secure your date/time. Your remaining balance will be due via invoice the day before your shoot.

Payment options are available per request only but will incur a 10% additional fee.

Where do you typically shoot at?

Nearly all of my shoots are outdoors. To ensure privacy, less photo-bombing/distractions, and to give a more relaxed state of mind, I always suggest your location choice is somewhere more private and less tourist-y than the more common shooting locations locally. The typical setting for me is either a nature reserve, an outdoor park or lake, or simply even your own backyard. Most of my shoots are held within Suffolk or Smithfield, VA but your session can be held anywhere within Hampton Roads within your session's included mile radius.

With that being said, I do offer in-studio sessions for any session type upon request only.

How & when do we receive our images?

Due to us also being homesteaders, my typical turn-around time will vary by the season. Typically, it is up to 3-4 weeks but I always aim for less than this. Please keep this time frame in mind when booking.

If your session is held March-October (spring/summer), my turn-around time can be up to 4 weeks. Because we have less to maintain/consistently harvest, if your session is held October to March (fall/winter), my turn-around time can be as little as 2 weeks. But my average turn-around time year-round is 2.5-3 weeks post-session. Please keep this in mind while booking.

Delivery of the images will be a private password-protected gallery link sent via email where you can view, download, and purchase optional fine art prints or additional digital files from straight to your computer.

What is your typical shooting style?

In the photography business, my style of photography is known as "promptography". These include very candid shots that capture genuine emotion, moment, and feelings that are raw and real. This allows for a more natural and welcoming environment as no one is having to worry about whether or not each person is looking at the camera.

The amount of anxiety surrounding the typical "smile & say 'cheese'" style of photography can hinder a session's experience and make it difficult for both myself and my clients.

Instead, you'll be prompted play games like tag, ring-around-the-rosie, follow-the-leader, etc. I will use interactive play to invoke true laughter, love and joy in each image.

Can I bring props to the session?

Typically my main focus throughout the whole session is you and your family. For this reason, I ask that props are kept to a minimum. Suggested "props" would include blankets, pillows and maybe a vase with some flowers. This is to not have the images be cluttered with too much background noise. We can discuss whatever kind of feel you're looking for and compromise for the best outcome during our styling process.

Do you offer print products?

Your gallery will have a walk-through showing you how to add a variety of print or fine art products to your cart such as gift prints, canvas art, metal wall art, books, albums and more. You can order straight from your gallery.

***Please note that because these are drop-shipped directly from the professional print company, I cannot inspect the product before you receive it. You are fully responsible for the inspection of your chosen products when ordering.***
